Peer Buddies
PEER BUDDY PROGRAM
What is a Peer Buddy? A Peer Buddy is a student who is willing to give up a study hall in order to “hang out” with one or more of our special ed. students. This person must be kind and caring, thoughtful and respectful, and have fun too. In other words, the job of a peer buddy is to be a positive role model.
There are many things that a peer buddy does for our students. They help them with their work, they play games, they help them on field trips, they eat lunch with them, they listen to them, go to dances, watch movies, etc.
If anyone you know is interested in being a peer buddy for a life skills student, please let our school counselors and myself know. They would have to give up a study hall and be willng to be a part of a life skills student’s life. I will warn you…..you will get very attached to these students. You may even make a life long friend.
